Another Tory own goal: this time in Hendon.

Constituents and the local press were not been impressed by the recent open primary to choose the candidate to stand against Andrew Dismore. After local toy-boy Matthew Offord was selected, a number of complaints were lodged that it was a stitch-up with letters and articles in the local rag.

One local writes - “For me, and other members of the group I attended with, the evening was overshadowed by the opaque and shady manner in which the actual nomination process took place.

“Having nominated our favoured candidate for the role, we were summarily told that Matthew Offord had been 'crowned 'as the winner. There was not, however, any mention of how the other candidates performed, no break-down of the vote and no opportunity to ask for a recount if the vote had been close.

“We were just not told. Frankly, this has left me quite disillusioned by the whole experience. If the Conservatives choose to hold another open primary in the future, they need to learn the public is not just a rubber-stamp for who the local association wants.”

Of course, the vote itself wasn't even binding; it has to be ratified by the local Association, in case they don't get the 'right result' as one local Tory confides.

another day, another cameron soundbite [he really be screwed when blair is gone and he wont have anyone to blatantly rip off]... anyway this one was about ASBO's, and reveals the growing rift between the top and bottom of the conservative party [tho ironically they have an arse at the top]

he accused labour of handing out asbo's like confetti, which does make me wonder about what it is the posh do at weddings [probably involves disembowelling a small mammal], instead he argues that cleaner streets woul help cut crime.

now its seems that whilst most conservative local council are in line with the apathetic use of asbo's the real rift occurs when you look at the piss poor attempt they have made at street cleaning, and environmental services. officers cut and budgets slashed.

so then the vast amount of grassroots has beens [sorry tory councillors] have little or no policy in common with cameron on this one...

which either means a: he is talkin utter bollocks or b: he hasnt got a national party behind him.
